Moving soon.

Don't know if y'all know this, but I'm going to be headed out West, soon. Figured I'd make it an official announcement. Yes, it's true. I'm moving to Washington (state). So any of you West-Coasties want to hang out, give me a shout!

Moving sucks, in general. I hate moving. I think, in my adult life, I've moved a total of eight times. All of them were painful moves. I hate looking for a new place to live. I hate packing. I hate gathering up enough newspapers and magazines to use for packaging materials. I hate unpacking. I hate connecting up utilities. I hate driving with all my stuff and worrying about what condition they'll be in once I reach my destination.

When I moved from Arizona to Pennsylvania, I rented a Ryder truck. I towed my own truck on the back of this thing. On top of that, my dad and Rosie, the wonder pug (RIP) rode in the front with me. The truck had no cassette deck and a broken radio.

Anyway, I think I'm getting enough money to hire movers. Praise movers. Praise them.

Hey, we in Washington state are happy to have you! Will you be anywhere near Seattle? We'll definitely buy you a coffee - to help with the shock of moving from all-sun to all-rain. On the plus side, if you're moving right before summer, you get the benefit of experiencing all the good weather first...Seriously, welcome! Hugs, Jeannine

I'm /very/ glad you are coming! Have you set a date for the big move? Please let me know if you need any help settling in.

Whoo Hoo! Jeannine's right about your good timing. Allow me to join her in the coffee invite (drinking coffee's sort of a stereotypical prerequisite for residence). It will be great to have you around-ish.

Washingtonians (is that what they call you/us) are so great!

Thanks for your hospitality! Jeannine, I'll be north of Seattle. Looking for a place half way between Bellingham and Northern Seattle at the moment. Realtors are slick, y'know?

yeah, i hear you, oliver: moving does suck. big time. i've moved across the country (coast to coast) and back twice in the past 4 years. so technically, i've moved 4 times between jersey & cali (don't ask). good thing you've got funds this time around for some movers. they're definitely worth it! though i think the packing is the worst part of it all. best of luck with the move! :)

I've heard great things about the poetry audiences in Bellingham, and of course Seattle is a very welcoming place for poets. If you want, e-mail me (webbish6 at hotmail dot com) for neighborhood info, whatever, and I'll be happy to help! Remember to sleep and take your vitamins etc around the move, even an ideal move is stressful. Welcome again!
