This is from the third day of our trip from New York to the West Coast. We stopped off in South Dakota to look at Mt. Rushmore. It was VERY cold and rainy. Of course, on the way back, I got lost. It was by far the worst travel day.

Rushmore itself as a monument is sort of fraught in terms of being such an intrusive form of colonialist rhetoric, but that whole Black Hills area can really be amazingly beautiful. I'm sad to hear that you didn't get to see it on a better/less inclement day!
