Meredith and I attended the Iron and Wine concert last night. It's the first concert I've been to since moving to the Pacific Northwest. It's a shame, too, because great bands come through here (and from here) all the time. Anyway, Sam Beam and friends were remarkable. Great 8-piece band with many members juggling multiple instruments. At times they'd play a song right into the next without skipping a beat.
Some of their more famous, slower-paced signature songs, they played quickly and vice versa for the faster paced songs. It was really interesting to experience the change as someone who's followed all their (his) albums.

Wow, I'm glad to hear you liked the show. I was seriously disappointed. Thought the violin and slide guitar were way too loud, etc, etc. I actually posted extensively on it, so I won't go into it here. Amazing, simply amazing guy, amazing band, but I thought we got a shoddy show.

We sat way in the back underneath the balcony, (to the left of the sound engineers) so that may have affected what we heard.
Is he (Sam Beam) a great musician and lyricist, yes. Absolutely. But as far as his showmanship . . . yeah, not so hot. My remarks are probably colored by the fact that it's the first concert I've been to since I moved from New York, so I've been starved for live musical performances. One thing that did annoy me was when he turned his back to the audience and played to his drummer. He kept doing that and I'm not sure why. THAT bugged me.
Where'd you sit?
We were in the mezzanine, middle right facing the stage.
Perhaps it's age sneaking up on me, but I really thought my ears would bleed from the ill-kept sound.
